
Shopping Trip - Barry Wilkinson
This animated film was created during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, with the intention of encapsulating the isolation, dread and purposelessness felt by many during this period.
To directly quote the director: ““Shopping Trip,” created during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, encapsulates the profound worry and unease of that period. The monochrome animation takes the viewer on a solitary journey, capturing the surreal experience of a simple shopping trip transformed by the pandemic’s shadow.”
The stylistic inspiration behind this animation was drawn heavily from Playdead Studios, a video game development studio.
My key approach to scoring this film revolved around unpredictable and unconventional harmony to create an air of uneasiness and uncertainty to address all of the feelings
