Winter Light - Ingmar Bergman (1963)
This film project was one of my major works during my course at AIM. I chose an excerpt of this film to re-score as I found the subject matter fascinating to watch and to write for. The film itself had very little in the way of music and so this film was a prime subject to practice my scoring skills on.
My approach here was to follow the shape of the conversation and the rise and fall of emotion as the conversation unfurls throughout the scene. My intention here was to solidify the contour determined by the characters to create a score that felt entirely natural and cohesive.
